The Federal Correctional Institution in Edgefield has both a medium-security prison and a minimum-security federal prison camp. The medium-security FCI holds men who are serve sentences for convictions that the Bureau of Prisons considers to be on the serious side. Those convictions will include drug and violent offense. The minimum-security camp will hold people from the South Carolina region who are serving time for offenses that include white collar crimes and also minor offenses. Or, the people in the camp will be closer to their release date. Everyone in the camp will be within 10 years of release.
